Belem My Third Compassion Child

So I had waited a year and a half for God to let me sponsor another child. I came close to sponsoring a child without God's full approval, but something was not right. So I waited. After looking at pictures of Egyptian artifact, I went on the Compassion website and found a fourteen year old boy as black as coffee (Or something very dark).  I asked God if I could sponsor him and to show me by sending a letter from Compassion the next day. Well three days later I realized that I had gotten a letter the next day from Compassion asking me to sponsor an older child. I still hesitated, but it all felt right. I waited until after my church's Compassion Sunday just in case. No one compared to him and his beautiful skin.

Belem

He is called "Patience" because I send him lost of letters and receive very few back. I just have to waite for his his long detailed letters.

Leejoy

My second sponsored child is from Thailand. I nicked- named him Leejoy because of his long, hard to say name. Leejoy was seven when I started sponsoring him and he will be turning ten this September. I sponsored Leo and Leejoy at my church's Compassion Sunday, but I did not sponsor Leejoy until I was thirteen. I wanted to sponsor another child because I felt like I had really failed with Leo and I wanted to make it up to God.
It was all in God's hands. Over the year leading up to the Compassion Sunday, I had started to feel called to be a missionary to Thailand. After talking with my mother about sponsoring a child again, she said I had to save up a year of sponsorship before I started. Just to make me 100% responsible.
On Compassion Sunday I was really excited. There was only one kid from Thailand though. My Leejoy. God wanted to make sure I got the right child. He was so cute even though he looked sad. Leejoy always says he wishes that we lived closer. Someday I will live in Thailand and I will get to see him. I always have my head in Thailand.

Leo my first Compassion child

My first Compassion child was a five year old boy from Indonesia. I talked my parents into sponsoring Leo when I was six. The idea was that I would sponsor him and pay as much as I could. When my dad  filledout the paperwork he signed his name and so the little boy never wrote to me. I was disappointed and did not do much for sponsoring him. I do not even know if I wrote to him. He was a wonderful writer though and I feel bad that I never wrote. It is like a bad dream and there is nothing I can do to make it up to Leo. He wrote about his stepfather not wanting him to attend the program anymore. Then we got a letter say his stpfather got a better job and Leo would no longer be able to attend the program. I was so sad. I lost my chance to redeem myself.

There is a first for everything

I decided to start a blog so that I could tell people about my mission trip to Ecuador. When I came back it felt like no one wanted to hear about all eight days. They just wanted the highlights. My solution blog about my amazing eight days in Ecuador. My back up plan, sponsor a child from Ecuador.
